Perfopan

Microustic® MICRO 8x8x1 PR1%

Microustic® MICRO 8x8x1 PR1% is a Perfopan micro-perforated wood panel with Ø1mm front holes on an 8 × 8mm grid, giving a 1% open area. Perfopan's data sheet gives NRC 0.35 at a 200mm mounting depth, with absorption strongest below 500 Hz and falling at higher frequencies. It suits reception areas, corridors and boardrooms that need a calm timber surface with a measured amount of absorption.

The 18mm MDF board is drilled from both faces and backed with Soundtex black glass tissue, then fixed on an aluminium profile. Perfopan publishes NRC 0.35 both with and without 50mm mineral wool in the cavity. Finishes are wood veneer, HPL or lacquer to a RAL colour.

Where it works, fire rating and fitting

Your product questions, answered, for UK schools, offices and venues.

Where does the MICRO 8x8x1 PR1% suit in a UK building?

It suits rooms where a plain timber look matters and only a moderate amount of absorption is needed, such as receptions, corridors and boardrooms. Our acoustician checks it against the room's RT60 target, and against BB93 for a school, at the survey.

What fire rating does the board have?

Perfopan's data sheet gives D-s2,d0 for the standard 18mm MDF board and B-s2,d0 for the fire-resistant MDF board. We check the chosen board and finish against your building's fire strategy before anything is ordered.

Does mineral wool in the cavity change the result?

Not on this model's published figures. Perfopan gives NRC 0.35 both without mineral wool and with 50mm of 50 kg/m³ wool, at a 200mm mounting depth. If a room needs more absorption, our acoustician may suggest a model with a larger open area.

How is it fixed, and who installs it?

Panels fix on an aluminium profile, and the depth of the cavity behind affects the result; Perfopan tested at 200mm. Our installation team confirms the substructure at the survey and sets out the panels on site.

Can I see a sample, and how many panels will I need?

Samples are available on request; allow a few working days. Quantities come from the room's size, finishes and use at the free site survey, which gives a quotation and an AI-assisted acoustic report. Before-and-after acoustic measurement is available as a paid add-on.
