Perfopan

Microustic® MICRO 4x8x1 PR3%

Microustic® MICRO 4x8x1 PR3% is a Perfopan micro-perforated wood panel with Ø1mm front holes on a 4 × 8mm grid and a 3% open area. Perfopan's data sheet gives NRC 0.65 at a 200mm mounting depth, with absorption peaking at 0.77 around 400–500 Hz. It suits offices, meeting rooms and restaurants where speech needs to stay clear without a visibly perforated wall.

The 18mm MDF board is drilled from both faces, backed with Soundtex black glass tissue and fixed on an aluminium profile. Perfopan publishes NRC 0.65 with or without 50mm mineral wool, so the cavity build can stay simple. Finishes are wood veneer, HPL or lacquer to a RAL colour.

Where it works, fire rating and fitting

Your product questions, answered, for UK schools, offices and venues.

Where does the MICRO 4x8x1 PR3% suit in a UK office or restaurant?

It suits offices, meeting rooms and restaurants where conversation needs to stay clear but the walls should read as plain timber. Our acoustician checks the coverage against the room's RT60 target, and against BB93 for a school, at the survey.

What fire rating does the board have?

Perfopan's data sheet gives D-s2,d0 for the standard 18mm MDF board and B-s2,d0 for the fire-resistant MDF board. We check the chosen board and finish against your building's fire strategy before anything is ordered.

Do I need mineral wool behind the panels?

Perfopan publishes NRC 0.65 both without mineral wool and with 50mm of 50 kg/m³ wool, at a 200mm mounting depth. Our acoustician decides the cavity build for your wall or ceiling at the survey.

How is it fixed, and who installs it?

Panels fix on an aluminium profile, and the depth of the cavity behind affects the result; Perfopan tested at 200mm. Our installation team confirms the substructure at the survey and sets out the panels on site.

Can I see a sample, and how many panels will I need?

Samples are available on request; allow a few working days. Quantities come from the room's size, finishes and use at the free site survey, which gives a quotation and an AI-assisted acoustic report. Before-and-after acoustic measurement is available as a paid add-on.
