The Challenge

An open, hard-surfaced showroom needs acoustic treatment

Good acoustic treatment fixes this without hiding it. By absorbing sound at the ceiling and upper walls — in finishes bold enough to double as a design feature — you cut the noise while keeping the open, high-end feel that sells the room. Customers can hear staff, staff stop shouting, and the space finally sounds as good as it looks.

Retail showrooms are built to look open and impressive — and that's exactly what makes them loud. Hard floors, high ceilings and glass everywhere let footsteps, chatter and background music bounce around unchecked until every conversation blurs into a wash of noise. Customers strain to hear a sales pitch over the din, staff end up raising their voices all day, and a space designed to feel premium starts to feel like a warehouse.

How we approach

Showroom

We know what makes a showroom loud specifically — open sightlines, hard flooring for wheeled stock, and display cases that reflect sound straight back across the floor. Treating a furniture showroom isn't the same job as treating a boutique: the fix depends on ceiling height, footfall pattern and what's actually on display. We specify for the room you have, not a generic retail template.

One contractor, start to finish

Survey, design, installation and testing all handled in-house — no subcontractors, no handoffs between suppliers. One team stays accountable for the result, from the first site visit to the final sign-off.

Designed to a target

Every space gets an acoustic design modelled to a specific reverberation target, not a standard panel layout. Before-and-after measurement is available as an option, so the improvement can be proven, not just felt.

Design-led finishes

Panels and baffles are available in bold colours and 3D textures that work with your brand and display fixtures, so treatment reads as part of the fit-out rather than sitting on top of it. We can match finishes to an existing scheme or use the acoustics as a deliberate design feature.

Independent on materials

We source from several manufacturers and are tied to none, so we specify what your space and budget actually need, not what one catalogue stocks.

From first survey to final finish

One team handles all seven stages, the same way on every project, so you always know what happens next.

Acoustic Survey

A surveyor visits the site, or works from your drawings and photos when a visit isn't practical. Either way, the room, its surfaces and how it is used are recorded before any advice is given.

Acoustic Assessment

Reverberation, ambient noise and noise transfer are read against what the space is used for. The findings arrive as a written report with recommendations, yours to keep with no obligation to proceed.

Acoustic Design

Treatment is modelled against a reverberation target, then drawn up with panel positions, fixings and finishes. Nothing moves forward until you have approved the design.

Specification & Quotation

Every quotation comes with the specification behind it, listing products by type, quantity and finish with costs set out line by line. What is quoted is what the design calls for.

Acoustic Product Supply

Panels, baffles, ceilings and screens come from our Acoustic Solutions range and are supplied to the approved specification. What arrives on site matches what was designed.

Acoustic Installation

Our own engineers fit to the approved drawings, checking positions and fixings as they go. One team supplies and installs, so nothing is handed between contractors.

Acoustic Testing & Compliance

Optional: after fit-out the space can be measured again and compared with the original survey, so the improvement is measured rather than assumed. Results are reported against the relevant standards and the written record goes into your building file.

What We Offer

Showroom

Need expert acoustic advice?

Acoustic Design

Our acoustic design service includes detailed CAD drawings with wall elevation renderings, precise product placements, specifications, and verified performance ratings — all provided with every quotation.

Remote Proposals

We provide remote acoustic proposals using client drawings and photographs. Each proposal includes accurate product recommendations and detailed quotations for supply and installation, saving time without compromising precision.

Acoustic Testing

We provide complimentary NTI RT60 testing to measure reverberation times and assess acoustic performance before and after treatment. This service ensures precise product specification and demonstrates measurable improvements in clarity and comfort.

Full Acoustic Audit Package

For projects with complex acoustic requirements, we provide a comprehensive audit package that includes detailed site testing and analysis. This chargeable service is fully credited if we're contracted to deliver the acoustic treatments.

The Fix

How we reduce the noise

We treat the ceiling and upper walls with absorptive panels — often in bold colours or 3D textures that double as a design feature — to bring reverberation down without cluttering the floor space customers walk through.

  • One team surveys, designs and installs — nothing gets lost between contractors

  • Every install is measured and tested against the target spec before we call it done

  • Not tied to one manufacturer, so the product is chosen for your space, not our stock

Acoustic treatment FAQs: standards, finishes and installation

Straight answers about treating a space like this, including the standards that apply and how the work is done.

How do I reduce noise in a retail showroom without changing its open look?

Treat the ceiling and upper walls with absorptive panels or baffles, which bring reverberation down without cluttering the floor or blocking sightlines. Because most sound builds up overhead, this preserves the open feel while making conversations easier to hear.

Can showroom acoustic panels match our brand colours?

Yes. Panels are available in a wide range of colours, textures and printed finishes, so they can match your scheme or become a deliberate design feature. We send samples so you can check them against your fixtures and lighting.

Can acoustic work be done outside showroom trading hours?

Yes. We schedule installation for evenings, weekends or quiet periods, so the showroom stays open. Access, deliveries and protection of stock and displays are agreed with your team beforehand.

How much of a showroom needs acoustic treatment?

Usually the ceiling and upper walls rather than the whole space, sized from the room's volume and target reverberation time. Treating the right surfaces matters more than covering everything, and the survey shows where the problem builds up.

Will acoustic ceiling panels still look modern and minimal?

Yes. Slim, minimal profiles sit flush with a contemporary ceiling, and baffles or rafts can be designed as a clean architectural feature. We show finish samples and layouts so you can judge the look before committing.
